Get-a-way week-end

Tomorrow will be Wynn and I's 36th wedding anniversary.
I can't believe it has been that long.
A lot has happened to us in that time frame.
We are empty nesters and feel blessed that we still
"like" each other.

This year Wynn planned our anniversary celebration.
I loved it because he planned it and I had to do NOTHING!

We left right when I got off work on Friday.
We grabbed some lunch then headed out for
Stanley, Idaho.
Yup, that's where we went.
Up in the Sawtooth Mountain Range.
Wynn loves it there and I enjoyed hearing all the stories he had to tell.
Most of them involved our boys and scout outings.

We checked into our little cabin and then we
went to dinner.  Not too many choices but
a co-worker of Wynn's told him about a restaurant
where the food was really good.
WE checked it out and it was delicious!
I had trout and Wynn had a steak.

After dinner we went on a little drive to
Redfish Lake.
It was simply beautiful!
We loved reminiscing about camping there
when our kids were young and also when we were
with Wynn's whole family on a huge camping trip.
So many memories.

Saturday morning, we got up and drove to Sunbeam
Hot Springs.  We thought about taking a dip but
it was like 10:00 in the morning and it was still
about 35 degrees with a little breeze.
Just a little too chilly for me.

We then went up the dredge road.
We checked out some grave yards and just
basically enjoyed our time together.

We then headed for Sun Valley over the Galena Pass
where the Snake River begins.
It was totally beautiful.

We had a picnic of fried chicken from
Albertson's  in Sun Valley and then
headed for home.

Such a fun week-end get-a-way.
The best part -
Wynn planned it all!

Here's to another 36 years!

The Boundary Trail

On Saturday, Sept. 12, Wynn and I went on another RZR ride.
We went on the Boundary Trail up by Pebble Creek Ski Hill.
The trail was so difficult and rocky.  Brush covered the trail and
thus I got it in the face a lot.  So did Wynn.

We did it from start to finish!
It was over 50 miles.
It was long, rough and annoying.
But, the scenery was simply beautiful.
The fall colors are here and I have pictures to prove it.....

Not such a fun trail but the company was fantastic!
I love you Wynn!

My wildflower garden

This spring we planted wildflowers in our garden spot.
I'm not much of a gardener but I do love flowers.
Wynn planted sunflowers against the fence.
Mom gave me a box of wildflowers and we just
scattered them in the front of the sunflowers.
I've loved watching them grow.
Just look how beautiful they are!

Canning

I have been doing a little canning.
We picked Mike and Karen's apples a few weeks ago.
I brought them home and made them into applesauce.
I then took it over and put it on their shelf in their pantry.
It felt good to do something for someone else.

I then made jam and more jam.
I made carrot cake jam and Vanilla Bean Pear jam.
I made it for Christmas gifts!  Yup, I've been thinking about
Christmas......
I put the left over fruit in quart jars.
SUCCESS!

Wedding

Dave & Colleen's daughter, Megan got married on Labor Day
week-end.  We loved going to the Brigham City, UT temple
and witnessing this union.
It was a beautiful ceremony.
The bride and groom were so happy.
After the ceremony, we all went outside
for pictures.  I felt so bad because the wind
was blowing so hard.  I'm sure they spent a ton
of $ on a photographer and the wind was so bad.

This is the tabernacle across the street from the temple.
 Brigham City Temple.

We then went to Madox for the wedding luncheon.
It was so wonderful, the food was exceptionally good.
Totally enjoyed ourselves.

Then, we went to the reception in Bear River.
It was so neat....It was this little cottage that people live in
but the yard was exquisite!  Not many decorations were
needed because the yard was so cool.
It did rain a few times.  I just felt bad because the
weather was so difficult.
Wynn and I with Kelly who is on a mission in Argentina.
 The beautiful yard.
Megan and Michael and the wedding cake.
The best wedding cake I have ever tasted.
A beautiful day.
This is what I stitched for the happy couple.
WE also gave them a crockpot.

Blackfoot State Fair

I love going to the fair with my Mom.
We just leasurly stroll around and enjoy everything
from good food, exhibits and watching people.
What a fun way to spend a Thursday afternoon in September.

Meadow Lake

We used to go to Meadow Lake all the time when our kids were little.
Mike & Karen used to come from Ohio and we all would take a HUGE
family camping trip to Meadow Lake.
We haven't been there for a long time.
So, the last week end before school started, we took a
camping trip to Meadow Lake.
Wynn and I left on Thursday and enjoyed one night
before Steven and his family got there on Friday afternoon.

Wynn and I went on a RXR ride on Thursday when we first got there.
It was beautiful!

On Friday, we enjoyed another RXR ride before the kids got there.
Lots of old mining roads to explore and beautiful sights to see.

Everyone went fishing except Tyson and I.
Steven said that with each cast, the kids would catch a fish.
He didn't get to fish much because he spent all his time
helping the kids CATCH fish.
They had so much fun.
Tyson and I stayed in camp.
 He loves Grandpa's RXR.
 He loves Camdens motorcycle.
(he makes the cutest sounds when he is pretending to ride)
 The catch of the day!
 Camden and STeven
 The fishing crew!
The kids on their RXR ride.

We explored the old Gilmore town cemetery.
It is so nice and so interesting.

So much fun spending time with  my family.
